Alison McNeill is an intuitive abstract painter based in Burlington, Ontario. She is self-taught, pursuing her art education independently through workshops, exploration, and study. She works primarily in acrylics, markers, and collage, often incorporating unconventional mark-making tools such as sandpaper, packaging, and kitchen utensils to create richly textured, emotionally resonant surfaces.

Alison’s creative path began in music, studying at McGill University in Montreal, the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and the University of Western Ontario in London. After leaving the formal music world, she became an entrepreneur, founding See Spot Walk, a successful pet care business, in 2007.

Although she discovered painting later in life, Alison’s practice has flourished with urgency and joy, becoming a powerful means of expression, reflection, and transformation. Her work often explores themes of memory, movement, and reclamation. You can see more of her work and connect with her on Instagram: @ali.in.art
